Survey Instrument

The NDTS questionnaire is designed by NDIC and is approved by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for use in collecting data from public law enforcement agencies (OMB Number 1105-0071).  Since 2004 NDTS respondents have had the option of replying using a paper survey form or the NDTS secure web site.  Law enforcement agencies are asked to respond to survey questions that address the following aspects of drug trafficking in their jurisdiction.  Initially maps are available to portray responses to these survey questions:

• The drug that poses the greatest threat,
• The drug that most contributes to violent crime,
• The drug that most contributes to property crime.

Additional maps depicting survey questions that address the overall level of availability of various drugs and other aspects of drug trafficking activities are planned for ongoing updates to this site.
