About NDIC
The 1990 National Drug Control Strategy called for the creation of NDIC and for it to be placed
under the supervision of the Attorney General.
In 2000, the General Counterdrug Intelligence Plan (GCIP) designated NDIC as the primary center
for domestic strategic counterdrug analysis supporting policymakers and planners.
We support these documents by:
- Developing timely strategic intelligence assessments,
- Providing real-time operational intelligence support to high-priority investigations and
initiatives; and
- Facilitating the timely sharing of drug-related intelligence.
We also support the National Intelligence Strategy and the larger intelligence community by
integrating NDIC's analytical efforts with those of other IC members to:
- Identify and disrupt terrorist organizations that use illicit drugs to fund or otherwise
further their operations; and
- Produce strategic intelligence relating to the drug-terror nexus and other threats to our country.
